I have a 1989 Accord with a Keihin compressor. It squeals with the air
conditioner off at about 2000-3000 rpm. In the morning it squeals at
idle and lessens after driving a while. The pulley assembly and front
plate are available from the Honda dealer. My question is, has anybody
replaced the pulley assembly in the car (I would hate to evacuate the
system and remove the compressor) ? It looks like the nut comes off and
the front plate can be removed. Then it looks like a slip ring holds
the pulley on. There are two other slip rings that I do not think that
I need to touch. Does the front plate just pry off ? Does the pulley
just slide off or is a puller needed ? I read other posts in which they
always removed these components with the compressor out of car. Is the
front nut a left hand thread ? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks …
